Hong Kong: Re-claimed Time, Re-claimed Space (excerpts)

...
Artists born in the 70’s and 80’s are more interested to use popular culture in their works.
Some also acknowledge the power of the market in influencing their artistic practices.
Kwan Shueng-Chi uses urban day-to-day subject matters such as job-seeking and Mark
Six lottery to align with common interest. At the same time, he cheekily tweaks the
marketing dynamics to advance his professional visibility. The artist staged his so-called
‘retrospective’ exhibition before he even graduated from university. He playfully co-mingles artistic practice with career profiling, partly to poke fun at skeptical logics of the
art market, and partly to engage with it as a practical experiment. His works represent a
new generation who are well informed and determined to chart their own course.
